Data Mesh is a decentralized architecture where individual business domains own and manage data as “products” independently, rather than relying on a centralized data team. This paradigm shift, proposed by Zhamak Dehghani in 2019, moves away from traditional single data warehouses by dividing the organization into domains (sales, marketing, finance, etc.), where each domain takes full responsibility for their data.
